Screed for every need…

Choosing your screed

There are a number of important factors that must be considered when choosing your screed. As a basic breakdown these are: cost, drying times, depth, speed of application. For example: traditional sand and cement screed takes roughly 4 of days* before it will accept foot traffic whereas a rapid drying liquid screed welcomes foot traffic in 24-48 hours*, however the correlation in cost between the two screeds can be quite substantial, therefore you need to prioritise cost or drying time.

Have a look at our screed options for a full breakdown, this may help you choose your screed. But dont worry if you are struggling, our screed experts are here to help!

Fibre screed is a traditional sand and cement screed mixed at a ratio of 4 parts sand to 1 part cement. It has polypropylene fibres added to reduce cracking from shrinkage during the drying phase, it also provides additional strength to the floor. For the majority of ground floor applications, this is the most cost-effective solution due to simplicity, it requires only a labourer to move the screed to the point of application where the screeder will then lay the floor.
